Millions and millions and millions...
• It is estimated more than 500 million cartridges are made every year — enough to circle the planet more than three times when placed end-to-end.
• Three quarts of oil per cartridge equates to nearly seven million barrels of wasted oil every year.
• Cartridges take more than 1,000 years to decompose.
• Cartridges end up in landfills or exported to cities like Guiyu, China where they are improperly disposed of.
Recognizing the need for change...
• In 1993, the US government issued an executive order mandating preferential purchasing of environmentally conscious products, including toner cartridges.
• In 1997, the EPA deemed remanufactured toner “as good as” new.
• In 2002, Lyra Research concluded 77% of users ranked remanufactured cartridges as equivalent to or better than the originals.
What makes IPS cartridges green...
• IPS cartridges reuse plastic gears, screws, cartridge shells and other non-wearing parts.
• The remanufacturing process utilizes about 50% less energy than it takes to manufacture a new cartridge.
• In 2008, our cartridges were responsible for recycling more than 1 million lbs of manufacturing scrap and prevented about 2 million lbs of plastic and metal waste from entering landfills.
• IPS cartridges cost 20% - 40% less than new cartridges.
